Zoological Center (Domestic and Wild Animal Rehabilitation Center)

The Zoological Center is a private, non-commercial organization established in 2010. Its mission is to protect and save endangered species listed in Georgia's Red List.

We care for Caucasian brown bears, gray wolves and foxes that were born in the wild but became orphaned after poachers killed their mothers. These young animals were illegally taken from nature and held in captivity—often in small cages or even chained.

In the past, these animals were kept in restaurants, private hotels, or circuses as entertainment.

Since 2010, with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Georgia, these animals were confiscated and transferred to our care.

 

Returning adult predators raised in captivity to the wild is nearly impossible. They cannot hunt or find food on their own and may pose a danger by approaching populated areas.

However, it is possible to rehabilitate and release their offspring if rescued at an early age.

Visitor Guidelines

 

The following are strictly prohibited in the Zoological Center:

 

Approaching animal enclosures or making physical contact
Feeding animals outside the established rules
Littering or damaging trees and plants
Entering the premises under the influence of alcohol
Bringing flammable or explosive items

 

The premises are under video surveillance.
