The Fire

The performance is presented as part of the digital theatre festival “MOOZ-ART”, organized by the digital theatre “Avnevi”.

Based on real events, “The Fire” tells the story of Neli and her family — a family that becomes a collective portrait of the thousands of Georgians who were forcibly driven from their homes in Abkhazia and became displaced within their own country.

Neli struggles to survive and to secure a future for her children, while waiting for her husband, who remained in Sukhumi and whose fate is unknown. She refuses to believe that suffering means defeat. Her hope keeps her going, sustained by the belief that one day she will return home.

But unexpectedly, her husband returns to the family — disillusioned, lost and deeply changed by what he has endured.

Now everything depends on Neli: a woman carrying the burden of a painful recent history on her shoulders, yet refusing to surrender the hope that one day they will once again sleep peacefully in their own home.

“The Fire” is a deeply human story about displacement, loss, endurance and hope — a testament to the strength of those who, despite everything, continue to dream of returning home.
