Synopsis:

 

A dictatorship has taken hold in the country. A renowned writer and dissident is appointed by the Prime Minister as the head of a commission for restoring justice. On his way home, his car gets a flat tire, and a stranger helps him, whom the writer invites into his home. The writer’s wife, a sculptor and former dissident, is mentally fragile—her psyche was shattered when she was imprisoned and tortured for three months under the previous regime while blindfolded. She recognizes the voice of the sadistic doctor who tortured her in the voice of the visiting stranger. An internal investigation begins. The stranger denies all accusations, the wife tries to identify him, and the husband is convinced that this is merely another of his wife’s schizophrenic delusions.
