Delay the Sadness—the long-awaited new creation by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar—marks another extraordinary chapter in their artistic partnership and occupies a singular place within Eyal's body of work. It is her most intimate creation to date.
Dedicated to Sharon Eyal's mother, Adina Eyal, the work is neither a requiem nor a ritual of mourning. Rather, it is a meditation on the continuation of life and on the invisible traces that those we love leave behind after they are gone. What remains is more than memory: it is movement, breath, gesture, rhythm, and the body's quiet inheritance. Through us, they continue to exist.
Sharon Eyal distils the essence of the work into three simple statements:
Life continues after death.
Sadness continues, as does innocence.
This is how my mother continues to live.
