A group of actors displaced from Abkhazia break into a basement and turn it into a theatre. Each of them is still, to this day, “living out of a suitcase,” holding on to the hope of returning to Abkhazia one day.
They build a new theatre in the basement and achieve success on the theatrical scene. Yet none of them can shake the feeling that everything is temporary and that soon they will be going home.
They recall the road through Chkheri, the loved ones who became enemies overnight because of the war, and the painful memories of displacement — but they wrap it all in humour with great skill.
Eventually, the abandoned basement finds a new owner, and the displaced theatre is forced into displacement once again.
