The Cricket and the Ant

The Ant and the Dung Beetle – one of the most famous examples of Georgian oral folklore. This wonderful story has been passed down through generations for centuries, and almost every Georgian knows it by heart.

 

Synopsis:

Everyone in the world needs a friend – humans, animals, birds, and even the tiniest creatures. This fairy tale tells how a little dung beetle risks everything to save a friend. When an ant falls into water and is about to drown, the beetle does everything it can to rescue it, seeking help from a pig, an oak tree, a crow, a raven, a pit full of leaves, a mouse, a cat, and a cow. Each of them asks the beetle for something in return for their help.

 

Exhausted but determined, the tiny beetle does not give up, and ultimately, its efforts are not in vain – a loyal friend saves the ant. Unlike the other characters in the story, this friend asks for nothing in return, because true friendship is a priceless treasure. Only someone with a pure and kind heart can possess true friendship.

 

The performance brings this wonderful tale to life through Georgian folk music, song, and dance, leaving an unforgettable impression on both children and adults.
