The Beauty Queen of Leenane
Maureen, who is now forty, is confined to her mother's house and must care for her until she dies. The play addresses themes of domestic violence and mental health. It explores how a confined space affects people's lives, how those closest to us can restrict our freedom, and how escaping from them can become a distant dream. What fate awaits the Beauty Queen of Leenane? Will she manage to break free from her house, which has become a prison? Will she be able to liberate herself from her burdensome responsibilities, her mother's selfish demands, and ultimately from herself?
