About the Play:

 

A chronicle of the 1990s of the twentieth century, based on the idea of Bertolt Brecht. Civil war is raging in Georgia. The governor is killed, and his wife flees the country. Their small child is left in the care of the governor’s maid, Grusha Vachnadze. A real hunt is declared for the child, but Grusha refuses to give the child up and escapes together with the child from murderers and executioners. The war ends, and the governor’s wife returns to Georgia. Who is the true mother—the one who gave birth or the one who raised the child? This question is decided in court. The judge’s name is Azdak.
The entire troupe of the “Free Theatre” takes part in the performance.
