Mariam Megvinyte’s play Jocasta: Raw Material is rich in language, poetry, and monologues, unfolding through three narrative strands: the stories of Jocasta, Antigone, and Clara, spanning from Ancient Greece to the Georgian Civil War of the 1990s.
Clara’s storyline recounts the experience of a foreign journalist covering the events of the Tbilisi Civil War. The play is largely based on documentary material collected and researched by the author herself, exploring war, political conflict, the role of women, and deeply personal experiences surrounding motherhood.
Supporters of the project: Wine Factory N1, Heinrich Böll Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The poster features a documentary photograph by Shah Ayvazov, taken during the Tbilisi War (1991–93).
