I haven’t gone anywhere

A girl who was displaced from Abkhazia at the age of four decides, as an adult, to return to Sukhumi, her native land. There, she meets an Abkhaz tour guide and tries to convince him that Abkhaz and Georgians have never been enemies, and that they share the same blood, the same history, and the same land.

 

The play is based on a true story.

 

The performance tells the story of a kind of genetic memory through which Abkhazia is known through oral tradition, through the stories of others, and through old photographs.
