Magical realism, García Márquez’s Macondo, and the fight for historical truth - the Colombian-Italian co-production "For a Banana" (Por una banana) at the festival!
The performance is a tribute to Gabriel García Márquez’s timeless work and a real historical tragedy - the 1928 massacre of banana plantation workers.
Alongside the main character, Isabel, the audience travels straight into Macondo - a town where the arrival of a banana giant turned everything upside down. Isabel’s story revives a reality erased from the official history of Colombia: corporate impunity, the beginnings of drug trafficking, and the protest ignited against injustice.
