Play “Fire” — based on real-life stories
The play tells the tragic story of our recent history through Neli’s family, whose name is a collective representation of all those Georgians who were forced to leave their homes in Abkhazia and became displaced persons in their own country.
Neli fights for survival, for the future of her children, and for her husband, who remained in Sukhumi and about whom she knows nothing. She believes that suffering does not mean falling, and that her hope will one day allow her to return to her own home.
But unexpectedly, her husband returns to his family, hopeless and confused.
Now it is Neli’s turn — a woman who carries on her shoulders the painful history of our recent past, yet still holds on to the hope that one day we will once again sleep peacefully in our own home.
