Dmanisi Zinaida Kverenchkhiladze Professional State Drama Theatre is preparing for the premiere of the performance “Darispan’s Trouble”. As the theatre building in Dmanisi has been undergoing rehabilitation works over the past several years and the renovated venue has not yet been officially reopened, the premiere performance will be held at the Marjanishvili Theatre.

About the Performance

David Kldiashvili’s “Darispan’s Trouble” is one of the most distinguished works of Georgian drama. Through satirical humor and a profound understanding of human emotions, it explores themes of family, love, dignity, and social status. Beyond the story of a single family, the author creates a portrait of an entire society, which is why the issues raised in the play remain relevant and relatable to contemporary audiences.

In the Dmanisi Theatre’s new production, director Giorgi Sikharulidze presents a modern interpretation of the classic text. The narrative unfolds through the structure of four blogs, while video projections and live visual imagery play a significant role in the stage environment. Through the use of contemporary technology and an innovative theatrical language, the production offers audiences a fresh interpretation of Kldiashvili’s world, highlighting its enduring themes within the context of today’s reality.
