GRB3 was born when Tbilisi psychedelic rock veterans Levan Javakhishvili and George Dzodzuashvili set out to create an improvisational project with a fresh edge. They called up an old friend and horn player Avto Gigineishvili, and soon the trio was deep in exploratory jams. The result is a sound that’s freeform, open-ended, and leans boldly into avant-garde territory. GRB3’s sets move between hazy ambient zones and tight, loop-driven grooves. On top of that, it’s all free improvisation, no two takes ever the same. Guitars get trippy and noisy, sometimes channeling that ‘90s downtown NYC grit, sometimes just drifting in drone. The reeds are raw and wild, straight out of the ‘70s free jazz playbook. You’ll also hear bansuri and synths in the mix—sometimes floating, sometimes cutting through hard
