On November 5, Tsiskvili Theatre will present the legendary musical Chicago at the Lado Meskhishvili Drama Theatre in Kutaisi.
Chicago is a one-of-a-kind circus of dazzling performances and spectacle, clowns and marionettes, false love and genuine hatred. With 32,500 performances and more than 32 million audience members, the musical has set an extraordinary record.
Georgia and Georgian audiences have now joined Chicago’s global journey.
The musical is based on Maurine Dallas Watkins’s 1926 play of the same name, which was inspired by real events of the time. Watkins was a crime reporter for the Chicago Tribune and drew on stories from the crime pages to create the plot. The main characters were based on real women accused of murder in Chicago—Belva Gaertner and Beulah Annan.
