A young writer, Soso, submits his short story, Blue Mountains, to a publishing house. Autumn, winter, and spring pass as he waits for it to be reviewed, yet no one reads the manuscript, and its copies mysteriously disappear. The editorial staff are constantly occupied with meetings, conferences, personal affairs, and endless bureaucratic procedures. The only person who shows any interest in the story is the building’s painter.
Eldar Shengelaia’s satirical comedy exposes bureaucracy, indifference, and the avoidance of responsibility through absurd situations and unforgettable characters. It portrays a system in which everyone seems to be busy working, yet nothing ever really changes.
